Project Overview

Volunteers are needed to support the young children ranging between 3 and 7 years of age in the kindergartens at Shanghai and other parts of China. We have partnered with a number of kindergartens in order to improve the quality of life for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. These are the children whose parents due to poverty cannot afford their children's education and food expenses. Thus they drop them in kindergarten in the morning time and then picked them up in the evening. So you can say that kindergarten is a second home for these children as they spend almost their whole day here. There are about 450 children in each kindergarten but no assistant to help the very few teachers/staff. Moreover these centers do not have good infrastructure and they even lack basic resources. Thus the children here are not getting the necessary attention and are also deprived of good education and food. This is the reason why the mental and physical help of volunteers is needed here. If you have a passion for the little ones then come to join us and feel the fun atmosphere of kindergarten. Your help and support cannot only give these children a better life but you yourself will also thoroughly enjoy this lovely project.

Responsibilities and Role of a Volunteer:

As a volunteer in this program, you have the opportunity to bring joys, laughter, and happiness to many children's lives. During your volunteering stay, you can perform different roles. You need to assist the few available staff as well as helping in such areas like English, arts and crafts, music, dancing, exercise etc. You will be taking care of the young kids while they are playing. You can also help them in feeding, bathing, dressing, changing nappies and keeping them clean. You will also teach the children basics of education like numbers and alphabets, names of fruits and colors in English by taking help from colored pictures. As these children are too young, so you also need to teach them how to speak, how to write, how to walk, how to run and even how to eat. You can also organize extracurricular activities to entertain the young kids like telling stories, playing games, dancing, singing songs, and nursery rhymes. Bringing some toys, colorful books, groceries, and games etc will also make these children happier and excited. If you love cooking, then you are welcome to work in kitchen and make tasty meals for the sweet children. Moreover, you are also expected to help in administrative section as well as in writing proposals in order to increase the center's funds and grants. If you like you can also bring baby milk powder, diapers, clothing (underwear pants), baby talcum powder and baby bottles etc for the use of these disadvantaged children. Thus this will be an unforgettable experience and you will gain an enormous satisfaction of getting to know that you made a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children.

PLEASE NOTE: We are providing you a working schedule as flexible as circumstance allow us. You are required to work for only 3 to 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday. The weekends and evenings will be free in which you are allowed to relax or travel. The work schedule will be provided to you by project staff or coordinator. They will work in close contact with you and will supervise and carefully assigned the activities for you in the placement. Besides this, you are also expected to make certain disruptions in the working schedule due to national holidays, your exam, cultural or traditional festivals and other similar situations. During this period, you are not allowed to work and can manage your free time for a short holiday trip.

Allocation of Global Volunteer Solution Fees:

If you are wondering where your volunteer's fees are going, then you should know that all of Global Volunteer Solution's programs solely rely on participant program fees. With the fees volunteers pay to enroll in the program, Global Volunteer Solution is able to attain its goals, thus raising the bar for hygiene, education and social status of local communities and bridging the gap between the Western and Eastern cultures. Ultimately, Global Volunteer Solution, its diligent volunteers, and its hopeful grassroots organizations are able to work towards a deeper cultural understanding, global unity and goodwill.
