About Us

Global Volunteer Solutions: An International Humanitarian Volunteer Program

Global Volunteer Solutions (GVS) is a 501(c)(3), humanitarian volunteer abroad program located in the USA. With a love for humankind and a motivated spirit to help others, GVS was created on the belief that one person can make a difference in the lives of others. Our projects are arranged for volunteers to live with, and work side by side with local people in a range of fields such as orphanage work, day care, community development, teaching and much more. We offer volunteers the opportunity to explore a new country while taking part in meaningful, rewarding service work.

Mission - is to operate volunteer programs around the world in partnership with sustainable community initiatives, bringing people together to work side-by-side while sharing perspectives and fostering cultural understanding. We are an international social enterprise with no political or religious affiliations.

Vision - is of a world where people value cultures different from their own, are aware of global issues, and are empowered to affect positive change.

More about GVS

GVS is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization that connect people with communities in need. Our doors are open for all nationalities irrespective of region and religion. As a non-profit organization, GVS works in diverse areas of humanitarian projects, community development, promote youth mobility, intercultural learning and international voluntary series in more than 25 countries.

We want to solve the local problems through local solutions thus we start working in alliance with local community organizations in each country. We support these organizations by mobilizing our international volunteers. GVS provides a wealth of experience, resources and dedications not only to its volunteers but also to its partners. Our aim is to make the community better and happier.

History of GVS

GVS program was launched with the aim of providing opportunity to people who are passionate and desperate to serve people in the developing countries across the world. The program emphasis on competency, affordability and safety, thus aims at life enrichment goal. If this is your first time going to volunteer abroad, you will, understandably, intensely evaluate the various organizations offering such programs to ensure the most secure and satisfying experience possible.

Among the optional programs you will find many with impressively constructed websites, attractive brochures emphasizing their native employees, and coordinators. You may also find astonishingly high program fees (many charge about US $2,000 for a 2-3 week program). Information on how this money is used is sketchy at best. In many cases, companies will use up to 80% of your fees for “internal corporate, administrative needs” while only a small portion (around 20%) actually goes into services provided by (and benefitting) the host country.

GVS strives to bring you something different: a high-quality volunteering and exploration program, for a substantially lower cost. GVS is quickly becoming one of the top volunteering companies that you can opt to work with!

With over 100 field operatives spread out across 30 countries, you can be sure that you will have a great and meaningful experience when you choose to volunteer with GVS. We would like to send over 2000 volunteers worldwide to participate in the program of their choice, and have always insured that each and every volunteer has the best time possible.

We at GVS believe that local organizations are in the best position to see where volunteers are really needed.

Here are the reasons why:

Locals who have been raised in developing countries intimately know their social issues, can speak the local language, and have insider knowledge of the needs of their countrymen.

Establishing partnerships with local organizations means lower fees; even a small amount can go a long way with making great changes in their lives, for the better. We can guarantee that almost the entire project fee that you pay goes to our partner organization. Part of this fee is necessary to pay for your accommodation, meals, airport pick up and orientation. However, a majority will go into giving local communities better facilities, programs and living conditions.

Our commitments

Message to Parents

Dear Parents,

To begin with, the GVS family wishes to extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude for choosing to work with our company. We wish to commend you for choosing our services by which you will introduce your children to the wonderful and enriching world of volunteering.

We know and understand that this is a major change in their lives. Your children will be leaving your care and company, and will go off by themselves to explore strange new places, meet new people and experience new things. While this is a great challenge, we wish to tell you that our GVS family will do our best to make sure that your children will have a deep, meaningful and safe journey.

We have tailored many of our programs to be appealing to children (especially around the college level), and we have made sure that they will be able to build, not only bridges, but also character, confidence and a knowledge that they have made a difference in the world. You are making the best choice for your children because you can be assured that you are giving them the best quality volunteer experience at the lowest prices you can find.

Please be assured that your children’s health and safety is our topmost priority, and that we have made every precaution to ensure that we will keep your child away from every dangerous and risky situation. We would also like to assure you that your child will be accompanied by trained professionals at all times, especially when they are in their volunteer placement areas.

While resting or sleeping, your child will be placed either in a hotel or with a host family. All GVS host families are careful researched and screened to ensure that our volunteers will have a comfortable and safe stay with them. We also make sure that all host families have a basic knowledge of English, are socially and financially respectable and have had previous hosting experience before. While staying with the host family, our in-country representative will also drop by regularly to check on your child. You may also opt for your child to stay in nearby hotels so that you can be surer of your child’s safety and comfort.

During the duration of your child’s volunteer program, he or she can be placed with other volunteers if you so prefer. This way, your child can be more comfortable and familiar with those he or she works with and can enjoy his or her experience more thoroughly.

Should you have other issues or concerns, please feel free to write to or contact us.

Yours Truly,

How GVS makes differences

How volunteering with GVS will make all the difference in your volunteer trip!

The GVS (GVS) program was launched with the mission of providing volunteering opportunities to people who are passionate and dedicated to serve less fortunate people in the developing countries across the world. The program focuses on competency of staff, affordability of service and volunteer safety, and ultimately aims at life enrichment for both volunteers and host peoples. The costs of these programs are minimal because GVS is involved with local NGO and global coordinate’s alliances, thus removing the need for middle men and middle men fees. Since the fees for the program is considerably lower, it leaves a lot of extra money to be invested in the venture instead. An individual needs to pay just $150 a week and can start working in their preferred village or host country right away. The experience one garners through building relationships compels people to come back to this project.

In countries like Europe and US, there are a number of volunteers who opt for similar programs from other companies, but are surprised at the end when they are charged heftily (as high as $2500 for 2-3 weeks). Most of these fees end up paying corporate management expenses including high employee salaries, printing materials; travel cost etc., while only a small portion of weekly program fees goes into actual service for the host country. At GVS, 70-80% of the weekly fees go directly to the host country and this is ensured as the program works with global coordinate alliances.

Individuals associated with GVS will have a memorable experience. It is also assured that the stay in any community is rewarding and safe as well. There is a GVS team available to the volunteers 24x7 to guide, troubleshoot and look for suggestions and concerns. Every individual can make his personal choice regarding community location and project preference as GVS operates in more than 25 countries on 5 continents encompassing more than 150 projects. Individuals can chose to serve 2 countries with just very little additional fees through the volunteer combo package. Group and teen programs are also offered so that first time volunteers or people who prefer to work in groups can get the both optimized and comfortable experiences.

GVS offers a high degree of flexibility in their programs, such that programs can be individualized to be commensurate with capabilities and interests. One can chose between rural or urban areas, and even combine them with the personal preferred hours in a week. The support group makes sure that all problems are catered to properly. Before the start of a program, an individual receives a pre departure booklet and various pamphlets regarding the stay and the country. These reading materials will contain the general information that volunteers need to know about their country.. People are able to create long lasting relations as GVS transcends the cultural barriers Staff members of the program are experienced volunteers themselves to ensure a smoother transition.

GVS allows leisure time for their volunteers as we arrange a day out in the host country through the local NGOs, providing personal time for amusement and relaxation. We recognize that that volunteers who are more secure and content can contribute more productivity to the program. We pledge that all emails are answered within 24 hours of inquiry. There is an option to call in for queries and even leave a message if the calls are busy. The security and wellbeing of our volunteers is of tantamount importance and we promise to do all within our means to provide the support you deserve.
